Photography

Course of Study

Producing photographers who can meet the whole range of demands placed upon them.

Photography is fundamental to many fields of society as a means of recording and communicating information and of creative expression. In the department of photography students can also acquire a comprehensive education to meet the needs of the contemporary world. Students learn both digital and analogue techniques in a curriculum based around two themes: expression and theory. By the time they graduate, students will have studied the necessary techniques for photographic expression and developed their sensibilities by acquiring a thorough knowledge of the history of photography and artistic theory. Students have use of a full range of facilities in which to produce and display their work, from studios, computer labs, and darkrooms to exhibition spaces. In this way, our course educates students in both the "software" and "hardware" knowledge and skills they will need to meet the demands of society.
